4 steps, one of them a person.
- Step 1
You send the invitation
The bid invitation, the plan set with every addendum, and the due date. Tell us who your surety agent is.
- Step 2
Agents build the package
The takeoff is priced from your unit costs, sub quotes are leveled, and every form the invitation lists is filled from your records.
- Step 3A person checks this
A person checks every form
Prices, addenda, the bond amount and every signature line are checked against the invitation. Nothing goes in incomplete.
- Step 4
You sign, we deliver
You sign the bid form. We deliver the package before the due time, the way the invitation says: portal, email or sealed envelope.
Notes from the desk
Notes from the bid desk
A bid package is the takeoff and the priced proposal, plus everything the invitation asks for, in by the deadline. Four parts of it have their own rules.
- The bid form is filled for your signature, with every addendum acknowledged by number and date. A missing one can get the bid rejected as non-responsive.
- The bid bond and consent of surety come from your surety agent, in the amount the bid documents set. Ask for them the day the plans arrive, not the day before the bid.
- On public work, labor goes in at the wage schedule in the bid documents, fringes included, not at shop rates. Federal and federally funded work carries a Davis-Bacon wage determination. Many states and some cities publish their own schedules.
- Where the owner sets a DBE, MBE/WBE or small business goal, the utilization plan goes in on the owner's form, when the solicitation says. If the plan falls short of the goal, the good-faith effort is documented the way the solicitation asks.
Where bids are posted
Federal opportunities are listed on SAM.gov. State and local agencies post theirs on their own portals or websites, and some still take a sealed envelope. If the portal needs a vendor account, open it the week the plans arrive, not the day of the bid.
After the opening
If the number was wrong and it is found before the opening, we send a revised bid the same way as the first, before the due time, and withdraw the first in writing. Found after the opening, call before you sign anything. That is why every package leaves with the takeoff and the leveling sheet behind it, dated.
On the page, like everything else.
One-off
$1,000
per bid package
Up to 2 a month on Full Office, then $1,000 each. No limit on Enterprise, with the bid strategy too.
Asked on the first call.
The bid is due tomorrow. Can you still take it?
Call the number at the top of the page. We tell you on the phone whether it can be done right by the deadline. A rushed number is worse than a no bid.
Do you handle public bids on agency portals and SAM.gov?
Yes. We work from the bid documents on the agency's e-bidding portal, or on SAM.gov for federal work. Labor is priced at the wage schedule in the bid documents. We fill the bid form and any DBE or MBE/WBE utilization plan. The bond request goes to your surety agent.
Who signs the bid form?
You do, or an officer. We prepare it and check it. The bid stays yours.
An addendum came out the day before the bid. What happens?
It is acknowledged on the bid form by number and date, and anything it changes is repriced before the package goes in. A missing acknowledgment can get a bid rejected as non-responsive.
Usually handed over together.
